Changes to the Civil Service commission
Under the present system, the final grievance hearing is held before the Civil Service Commission. This commission presently allows an Administrative Law Judge to hear and rule on all cases. Each decision by the Judge can be reviewed on paper and possibly reversed by the Commission. The present commissioners are all appointed by the Governor, and all will have terms expiring in the current Governor’s term. Nashville – On Wednesday, February 1st, the House Government Operations Committee met before a packed hearing room to discuss the proposed closure of Taft Youth Development Center in Pikeville.
